(ii)   If the bill of contains Hilti anchors, the PROFIS Installation or MSE calculation utilizes the published load values from the current Anchor Fastening Technology Manual (FTM) for min. 2.25 x hef thick C20/25 cracked concrete with no spacing or edge distance effect. Resistance values for anchors are based on effective embedment depth hef (listed in current version of FTM). The customer respectively responsible engineer must verify these anchors and that assumptions are suitable for their specific application.

2.2. FIRESTOP ENGINEERING JUDGEMENT (2068201)
A Firestop Engineering Judgement (EJ) is a fire protection engineer’s proposal for an alternative method which is expected to meet the performance requirements of the firestop system for a specific firestop application (e.g. penetration seal or linear joint seal application). An Engineering Judgement is offered when the specific application is not covered by a tested system (ASTM-, UL-world) or by a test/classification report or approval (e.g. ETA).Because of the numerous field conditions encountered, it is not possible to test every firestop application that may be encountered.

a) Deliverables:
(i)    Hilti Engineering Judgement of Firestop Detail (pdf).

b) Scope and execution:
(i)    All Hilti Engineering Judgements are designed in accordance with the International Firestop Counsel (“IFC”) guidelines. These Engineering Judgements are designed by Hilti experienced degreed fire protection engineers using, as the basis for their opinion, dependent on the legal requirements:

  • wide-ranging test results in accordance with common international EN, Iso and national test standards e.g.: ASTM-, AS, BS, DIN, GB, GHOST, JIS UL- and ULC -standards.
  • extensive knowledge and experience of the performance characteristics of Hilti firestop products, and firestopping technology generally.

(ii)    Pursuant to IFC guidelines, each Engineering Judgement is intended for one specific application on one jobsite, since even slight variances from one application to the next can affect system performance.

c) Customer Duties:
(i)    Provide all the project and application requirements for service execution including boundary conditions.
(ii)    Proactively inform Hilti in case of any changes to the project or application requirements.

d) Framework for Firestop Engineering Judgement:
(i)    In some countries, legal requirements for Engineering Judgements are existing. In most cases, only recognised test laboratories or experts are entitled to issue Engineering Judgements. In practice, in many cases, the manufacturer prepares the Engineering Judgement and has it cross-checked and “stamped” by the laboratory.
(ii)    In other countries it is in the responsibility of the manufacturer whether he issues Engineering Judgements and at which level.
(iii)    In all cases, a duty for documentation and archiving is required.

All System Requirements are subject to change at the discretion of Service Provider due to changes in system setup, design and functionality. Updated System Requirements will be communicated and reflected herein from time to time.

6. Usage Restrictions

When using the Services, the Customer must fully comply with the following Usage Restrictions and is solely responsible to implement the required mitigation steps using its best efforts to avoid any potential incorrect usage:

  • Any and all information and data contained in the Services concern solely the use of Hilti products and are based on the principles, formulas and security regulations in accordance with Hilti's technical directions and operating, mounting and assembly instructions, etc., that must strictly complied with. The Hilti product portfolio to be used in connection with the Services may vary from country to country. All figures contained in the Services are average figures, and therefore, use-specific tests are to be conducted prior to using the relevant Hilti product. The results of the calculations carried out by means of the Services are based essentially on the data Customer puts in. Therefore, Customer bears the sole responsibility for the absence of errors, the completeness and the relevance of the data to be put in by Customer. Moreover, Customer bears sole responsibility for having the results of the calculation checked and cleared by an expert, particularly with regard to compliance with applicable norms and permits, prior to using them for Customer`s specific facility. The Software serves only as an aid to interpret norms and permits without any guarantee as to the absence of errors, the correctness and the relevance of the results or suitability for a specific application. Customer must take all necessary and reasonable steps to prevent or limit damage caused by the Services. All calculation results and designs are recommendations and need to be confirmed with a professional designer and/or structural engineers to ensure that the calculation results and designs are suitable and adequate for Customer`s specific jurisdiction and project requirements.
Furthermore, the section “WARNINGS” in each of the reports being generated with the Services form an integral part of the calculation assumption. Customer needs to comply with those to the strictest and needs to ensure that they are being reviewed by an appropriate expert prior to their use.

  • Hilti Fire Stop Selector:  A ‘Typical’ is a pre-defined firestop solution which uses pre-determined components, assuming a fire resistance rating which represents a common configuration for a certain application. Typicals are rated on their fire resistance and limited based on Hilti-published technical documentation and the underlying product approvals, and being generic, non-project specific design assumptions. Typicals may therefore, not meet exactly those technical requirements which would be needed to cover the technical requirements of the project specific application. Thus, Typicals must be evaluated by the customer or the responsible engineer to determine their suitability for the actual, project specific design criteria and requirements

  • Modular Supports Plugin for Staad.Pro: this plugin comprises a three step workflow: user design new structure using MT channels or convert existing structure to MT system by switching beam’s section profile., then the user applies loads and load combinations and eventually perform structure analysis to check the structure’s reactions to the load. Finally, once the result is acceptable, user initiates the embedded Hilti command to convert the structure and analysis results from to the Hilti’s web application to conduct the modular connector designer. The connector module is powered by MSE, enables rule-based connector selection and automatically calculates utilization depending on the codes. The end of the design user can print the detailed connection design report from Hilti’s platform, as well as the original structural analysis report from native STAAD.PRO reporting function.

  • PROFIS Modular Supports Engineering: this software performs modular support design, analysis, enables optimized and customizable solutions and export them to 2D and 3D design platforms. Eurocode and US code are currently supported in this application. Main group of features: modelling (support location, media objects placement), structural analysis and design (structural calculation, solution optimization) and post design processes (bill of material, design report, CAD/BIM export, calculation file).
